IS IT ILLEGAL FOR POLITICIANS TO USE TWITTER'S NEW TOOL?
Social media platform Twitter said last Wednesday that it's testing a brand-new feature in Brazil that'll let users post text, photos and videos—that vanish in 24 hours.
Why Twitter has chosen Brazil as the country to test a Snapchat-like tool—I don’t have a clue – BUT – it does raise the question on the future of our U.S. politics.
Our 45th President Donald Trump frequently uses TWITTER to express his viewpoints directly with his followers.
In the past couple of years President Trump has faced lawsuits for deleting his own tweets. AS the Presidential Records Act—passed in 1978 after Watergate—states that all presidential records must be archived.
This includes President Trump’s twitter account not associated with the government.
So, imagine – Trump and our future presidents now using Twitter’s new feature called "fleets."
Unlike tweets – users won't be able to retweet, like or reply publicly to these posts.
Would this be considered ILLEGAL for a politician to use this feature?
Twitter declined to tell the public how many users it has in Brazil—OR when the company plans to start rolling out this new feature in the U.S.
